Darwin Directory

With a strong indigenous population and a close proximity to many Asian countries, Darwin is one of Australia’s most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities with a renowned nightlife as well.

With a tropical climate, Darwin appears to have only two distinct seasons – the dry season and the wet season. The dry season usually run from May to September and is distinguishable because almost every day is warm and sunny. In the dry season there are usually only one or two days in which there is rainfall. The wet season is associated with monsoonal rains and tropical cyclones. One of the most famous cyclones to hit Darwin’s shores is that which occurred on Christmas Day, 1974 – Cyclone Tracy. During the wet season the skies come to life with some of the most awe-inspiring colorful views.

With miles of unpolluted beaches, Darwin is the perfect location for leisure and recreation. Fishing is also a favorite of locals and one of the main interests for tourists from abroad. Offshore fishing is great with Spanish Mackerel, Jewfish, Queenfish, Snapper and many other varieties being found in the waters. Darwin is also famous for its barramundi fishing in the rivers.
